So here we are finally, moving (slowly and carefully) toward resuming worship. It’s going to take time before we’re completely there. And some of you are not ready to return, for very good reasons. We understand.
Some of you may attend worship but are not ready to take communion. We support you in that. As long as COVID is around there is still some level of risk. Mostly likely we will continue to see occasional increases in infection rates until the population reaches a higher rate of vaccination.
Thank you for your willingness to share your thoughts in the survey! We are just beginning to assess the results. The Task Group on Worship will be meeting this coming week. Some of us are scheduled to learn from Robin how to run zoom for worship so that by November we can offer a weekly Evening Prayer by Zoom. Watch for more information on that to come!
In the meantime we’re staying with the interim course we set, with regular in-church Sunday worship on all islands. (Orcas folks, remember that we’re doing 1:00 pm). And once-per-month Zoom services for all. The next one is set for September 26th at 10:00 a.m.
My reflection this time is a quick thought rather than a longer essay. It’s that everyone is precious in the sight of God. (So says our scripture, and our hearts.) We are all worthy of a place under the sun. As we go forward, it’s important to be connected whether you can be at worship in person or not.
This will be the last of the series of weekly reflections, by my count it’s number sixty, and we’ve had three wonderful reflections from the Faith & Race group as well. Thanks to the group.
Finally, we owe a debt of gratitude to Robin VanHyning for holding us together through Zoom for eighteen months. She will still help us when we Zoom worship on those fourth Sundays. We could not have done this without Robin’s steadfast and gracious servant heart.
